Wishing Well

The Oak Tree Inn has some incredibly generous staff and customers, having raised thousands of pounds for many deserving causes over the years.

Now we’re looking for support for another charity that’s touched our hearts on many occasions over recent years. Send A Message was set up to help brighten the day of a child newly diagnosed with a brain tumour by gifting them a toy. Their brothers and sisters are not forgotten and rightly included too.

The charity is named after and inspired by Sam, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011 at just two years old. Over the next three years Sam had 4 brain surgeries and despite many months of chemotherapy and other medical support he sadly died in 2014, at just 5 years old.

The charity works closely with the staff at Yorkhill Children’s Hospital in Glasgow, who inform them of children who have been diagnosed with a brain tumour. Then, with the consent of their parents, a gift is bought for that child, along with another small gift for their brothers and sisters.

The Fraser family, who own and operate The Oak Tree Inn, Village Shop and St Mocha Coffee Shop, are themselves indebted to Yorkhill Hospital for the incredible support that they provided to Ben Fraser as he was growing up.

To support SAM (Send A Message) simply throw some money into the well outside The Oak Tree. It’s secure, and once the season has ended we will open the well, count up all the money and send it onto them. Please also follow Send A Message on Facebook and give them all the support that you can.
