St Mocha is the home of speciality coffee in Loch Lomond. The first St Mocha Coffee Shop and Ice Cream Parlour opened in Balmaha a few years ago next to The Oak Tree Inn. The name St Mocha was inspired by the Gaelic Bealach Moc-ha, which translates as ‘The Pass of St. Mocha’ where the name Balmaha derives from.
St Mocha was developed by brothers Stuart and David Fraser, who brought a passion for amazing artisan brewed coffee to their purpose built shop in Balmaha. As well as winning rave reviews for the coffee, speciality teas and home baking customers love the relaxed and beautiful St Mocha environment. Especially popular are the fittings, from door handles to toilet chains that are made out of parts from coffee machines and often photographed by customers! St Mocha is also a place to chill, check your map and read a copy of The Oak Tree News and Balmaha Experience to plan the next part of your adventure.
St Mocha is also the home of Loch Lomond’s first truly authentic ice cream range – Loch Lomond Luxury Ice Cream. St Mocha offers a wide popular flavours including Traditional, Wild Strawberry and Pistachio. All of the ice cream is made on-site in Balmaha.
We have also recently launched The Loch Lomond Chocolate Co. and you can buy a bar of hand made chocolate, created by a local artisan chocolatier, to accompany your coffee.
In Summer 2016 we opened a second St Mocha outlet, this time on Luss Pier. This iconic location is the perfect home for St Mocha, bringing back to life a popular kiosk that had been empty for a few years after the previous owner had retired. Now with locations in both Balmaha and Luss both sides of the loch are covered.
St Mocha in Balmaha is open every day apart from Christmas Day, with St Mocha on Luss Pier open seasonally from Easter to
the end of summer. St Mocha in Luss also sells boat tickets for cruises and water transfers on the loch. The easiest way for us to service the St Mocha shops is by boat, so we have daily crossings, transferring staff and stock. For busy days St Mocha, Balmaha, extra seating is provided in a specially converted vintage bus.
In the very near future St Mocha will open its own coffee roasting facility, stocking the St Mocha shops with our own unique blends of roasted coffee beans and providing on-line retail for bags of St Mocha coffee, both in the shops and on-line through our Gift from Loch Lomond website.
There are also plans for further St Mocha shops so watch this space! If you love the St Mocha brand you can now buy a retro St Mocha T-Shirt, they are available both in the shops and on-line at our gift site. Click here to buy.
You are sure of a big welcome at St Mocha. You’ll often find the owners in serving coffee, there is also a great team of hard working and friendly staff to serve you on your next visit.

Wonderful visit with my family, up from England, where we ordered a variety of items, sorbets, ice cream, coffees, milk shakes, charming service in a unusual, well designed environment – I’ve equally visited in the height of summer where the consistent high level of service ensures everyone is happy in this beautiful part of the world.

I had a Toblerone Brownie with green tea! It was amazing! Always visit this wee cafe after a walk up conic hill and service is always great!
Perfect Coffee Shop (Via Trip Advisor)
Such a cute place to stop for coffee and cakes. Quaint decor with comfy seats, books to read and a vast ceiling to watch the sky. Staff were lovely and coffee good too. All food locally sourced.
Friendly, Snug and Very Welcoming (Via Trip Advisor)
This is a ‘small but beautifully formed’ place with a really good selection of high quality, tasty treats to suit most tastes and budgets. Attention to detail remained high from very busy but very cheerful and professional staff. Lovely, quirky decor and what a location. very well done!
