Next to The Oak Tree Inn you will find St Mocha Coffee Shop & Ice Cream Parlour. The name St Mocha was inspired by the Gaelic Bealach Moc-ha, which translates as ‘The Pass of St. Mocha’ where the name Balmaha derives from.
St Mocha was opened in 2014 by brothers Stuart and David Fraser, who have a huge passion for amazing artisan brewed coffee. As well as winning rave reviews for the coffee, speciality teas and home baking its customers love the relaxed and beautiful St Mocha environment. Especially popular are the fittings, from door handles to toilet chains that are made out of parts from coffee machines and often photographed by customers! St Mocha is also a place to chill, check your map and read a copy of The Oak Tree News and Balmaha Experience to plan the next part of your adventure.
St Mocha Drive Thru in Carbeth is now open! We are open from 7am – 6pm for coffee, snacks, ice cream, triple thick milkshakes and lots lots more, ‘Loch Lomond Coffee Co’ coffee beans are also available to buy in retail bags so you can enjoy our coffee at home. The drive thru is situated on the Stockiemuir road, G63 9AY.
Loch Lomond Coffee & Ice Cream
St Mocha is also the home of Loch Lomond’s first truly authentic ice cream range – Loch Lomond Ice Cream. St Mocha offers a wide popular flavours including Traditional, Wild Strawberry and Pistachio. All of the ice cream is made on-site in Balmaha.
Inspired by the incredible reaction to St Mocha Stuart and David created The Loch Lomond Coffee Co. installing a coffee roasting facility in the back of St Mocha. As well as serving this authentic Balmaha roasted coffee in St Mocha and The Oak Tree the coffee can be bought in bags, either in store on on-line.
For Summer 2016 a second St Mocha opened. This time as a seasonal kiosk on Luss Pier. This iconic location is the perfect home for St Mocha, bringing back to life a popular kiosk that had been empty for a few years after the previous owner had retired.
During Summer 2019 The Station in Aberfoyle opened on Main Street. The old Edinburgh Woollen Mill building has been rejuvenated by Stuart and David Fraser into a contemporary coffee shop. There is still a nod to the heritage of Aberfoyle in the name The Station, as this was originally one of the station buildings.
The arrival of the rail to Aberfoyle had started a tourist boom in the Trossachs village. Now the railways are long gone, but the Station is playing its part in a modern day regeneration of Main Street in the village, with a number of new shops replacing empty buildings.

Wonderful visit with my family, up from England, where we ordered a variety of items, sorbets, ice cream, coffees, milk shakes, charming service in a unusual, well designed environment – I’ve equally visited in the height of summer where the consistent high level of service ensures everyone is happy in this beautiful part of the world.

I had a Toblerone Brownie with green tea! It was amazing! Always visit this wee cafe after a walk up conic hill and service is always great!
Perfect Coffee Shop (Via Trip Advisor)
Such a cute place to stop for coffee and cakes. Quaint decor with comfy seats, books to read and a vast ceiling to watch the sky. Staff were lovely and coffee good too. All food locally sourced.
Friendly, Snug and Very Welcoming (Via Trip Advisor)
This is a ‘small but beautifully formed’ place with a really good selection of high quality, tasty treats to suit most tastes and budgets. Attention to detail remained high from very busy but very cheerful and professional staff. Lovely, quirky decor and what a location. very well done!
