I joined the company working as a chef in The Oak Tree Inn, and after a year I started my Level 2 Cooking apprenticeship.
I was always an admirer of the quality stonework around The Oak Tree Inn and was given an opportunity to help out the stonemason on-site in Balmaha. Following on from this, I then completed an apprenticeship in General Construction. I now specialise in stonework and assist with all new construction projects, ensuring the new builds are to the highest of
standards. The company has always been very supportive of me and my interests, and have really helped me develop and follow my chosen career path.

I have been with the company since 2018. I started off as a receptionist at entry level with minimal experience. I was trained up and became efficient at it before moving on to the next level. I gained clerical experience and excellent communication skills. Up until now, I have worked in 3 departments at The Oak Tree Inn: reception, in our village gift shop, and now as Assistant F&B Manager.
— Anthonia - Assistant Manager
I started working for the company in February 2018, and since then I have developed a number of different skills and I have moved on to roles with more and more responsibility. I started off in the business as a waiter/bartender but was quickly & efficiently trained and developed into being one of the senior staff members with responsibilities relating to the cellar maintenance and stock control for the front of house beverages.
After about 6 months I then went on to do a course through Babcock’s apprenticeships, where I once again got to develop myself further in areas relating to hospitality. After about 18 months at the company, an opportunity arose that saw me moving from the front of house team to the office side of the business where I work now. I’m currently the graduate back-office administrator in charge of not only the systems at The Oak Tree but also the systems used across all of the St Mocha coffee shops sites as well.
— Blair - Graduate Back Office Administrator
