Winter Writing Retreats at The Oak Tree Inn

We are excited to welcome writers for an inspirational retreat at The Oak Tree Inn. The event's host, Rebecca Maxwell Stuart, has written an article about the retreat, which we're delighted to share on our website. At the end of this article are details about how you can be part of the retreat on the banks of Loch Lomond.

A Sanctuary for Writers

Writers often find themselves in a constant battle with distractions, deadlines, and the ever-elusive muse. Our Winter Writing Retreats provide a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, offering the ideal environment to focus and nurture your craft.

Our writing retreats welcome writers of all kinds, whether you are an aspiring novelist, an academic crafting your next publication, or a postgraduate student immersed in thesis work.

With structured writing sessions, you will make meaningful progress on your writing project, all within a supportive environment, connecting and sharing your journey with fellow writers.

Structured for Success

The retreat structure has been meticulously crafted to maximise your creative potential. Engage in dedicated writing sessions lasting 60 to 90 minutes each day, interspersed with moments for relaxation and networking.

Guiding these retreats is Rebecca Maxwell Stuart, an experienced facilitator well-versed in Professor Rowena Murray's effective techniques for residential writing retreats. Close to completing her PhD in transnational student engagement at Heriot-Watt University, Rebecca's enthusiasm for writing and dedication to helping fellow writers flourish make her the ideal mentor for your creative journey.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Rebecca has further enriched her skill set by successfully completing a year-long counselling course accredited by COSCA. This equips her to lend a compassionate ear during the retreats, offering valuable insights and guidanceto help you overcome any writing challenges.
